Lawyers confuse Marketing with Advertising- it’s not! (7th June 2013)

Countless times the first comment made to me when I meet a new Law Firm principal and we start talking about marketing is “Oh yes, advertising…”

Marketing does not mean advertising. It is critical to distinguish them because we believe that there are innumerable inexpensive marketing activities that you can and should do in your law firm that does not require any advertising at all.

Moreover, we believe that advertising is usually the most expensive form of marketing, which usually produces the least loyal clients.

Now if your firm currently has an ad that is working, that’s fine.  Our point is that you can and should do other marketing activities as well as the current ad or if you don’t have an ad, instead of it.
